Smack my ass and call me Sally!

So I didn't update in March? Really? Sorry about that. I guess I've just been that busy! When it seems I've fallen off the Earth, just check my show schedule to see where you can catch me. I'm always on Facebook and Twitter, so friend and follow me. Now, where did we leave off?

The Juke Joint at Stage 773 was an inspirational night of the finest damn performers one room could hold. I am so pleased to witniss such an event, and to have supported the production. If you'd like a token and to support the continuing mission of my good pal, Jeez Loueez, pick up a pair of Suadela's Juke Joint Glitter Pasties in gold, green, red, or black.

HER HRC at Mayne Stage was a success and so much fun. I adore the talent that I had the pleasure of spending my evening with, and the venue is unparalleled. Suadela was so pleased to be on hand to vend at the event, and assist the HRC with production of the entertainment. Thanks to everyone involved with this night out!

Last Friday I had the pleasure of joining a bevy of beauties with Viva La Muerte's Hot & Heavy Burlesque for Termination Tease at Stage 773. It was an epic night of massively entertaining women. I premiered a new act for the occasion to the tune of the KidneyTheives' S&M. It was a tribute act to Secretary, one of my favorite movies featuring the gorgeous Maggie Gyllenhaal. I'm awaiting photos from both this event and Boob Tube burlesque at the 1901 Gallery Theatre's In The Dark series. Saturday night I swept up my hair into the oh-so-famous 'do of Lucille Ball for an I Love Lucy act. The dress for which was painstakingly handcrafted myself. I'm very happy with how it turned out, and can't wait to show you all the flowing yards upon yards of fabric in action.

My weekend was rounded out by working with a photographer I'd had the pleasure of connecting with on Model Mayhem. Carbon Based Photos and I spend Sunday afternoon together swapping geek cred, talking at great length about our cats, laughing and making some beautifully artistic images happen. He's got a gift for capturing *that* instant. The moment between candid and posed. It was a challenge in the very best sense. I'm quite pleased with the results, and as soon as the images are ready, you can bet I'll show them off!

Speaking of nudie pics, two very exciting things have happened on Zivity! One, I got myself a photographer account under the name Namir. Doesn't that make it nice and simple? Sauda for the model profile, Namir for the photographer side. So, my very first set was accepted from behind the lens, and it is of my business partner and full time beauty on the inside and out, Cruel Valentine. The set is titled Communiqué. Please go check it out, and give her a warm welcome in the form of comments and votes on her set! As a model, I've had a new set go live as well. It is titled Classic Lingerie, and was accepted into Editorial Picks! SnS Photo captured all that white-hot sex appeal, and I'm over the moon about how it turned out. He's new to Zivity too; so happy he joined up so keep that welcome wagon rolling! The published set itself is something I'm really proud of, and the incentive photos are truly special. They must be seen - there is no describing them - and votes are your ticket to do so. I'm offering them on a scale as outlined on my model wall. The top tier is worth every penny and then some!

I have the best friends and fans. Love and thanks to everyone who has made the various events possible. Several photos have just been added to the gallery section, as well. A special thanks to Tim Mathias for the flattering artwork he crafted. The next weekend extravaganza will be May 11th and 12th. Friday I'll be returning to the Kiss Kiss Cabaret, and Saturday I'll cross the border for Trek Wars (geek burlesque show) in Madison, WI. Very excited to take this show on the road!

I made some pretty rad falafel for dinner, relaxed for an hour with chiropractic care, and got home in time to pop in an episode of Firefly due to Castle not being aired tonight (I'm a Nathan Fillion junkie!). Tomorrow I'll be at the FetLife TNGC munch. If you're into that jazz, maybe I'll see you there, or on the site. Find me easily... member name is Sauda.

Mardi Gras!

I have SO much going on I don't know where to start. I don't have much time to spend online because it is rehearsals, appointments, crafting, orders, costuming, eat, sleep, rinse, repeat! Here's the skinny:

Show Schedule:

*Breast Mardi Gras Ever! at Underground Wonder Bar

*Festival of Flesh presented by Arkham Noise Productions

*Kiss Kiss Cabaret at the Greenhouse Theater Center

*Suadela Intimates at March Craft Fairy at The 1901 Gallery Theatre

*Suadela Intimates at Jeezy's Juke Joint at Stage 773

*Saturday's In the Dark at 1901 Belmont

*HER HRC goes Va-Va-Vaudeville at Mayne Stage

*Termination Tease presented by Hot and Heavy Burlesque

As always, keep up to date on upcoming performances by visting the contact page of my site. You can even subscribe to my appearances G-calendar!

Quick moment of mind ventilation below: Brought to you by random and disjointed thoughts.

I love Mardi Gras. Mostly because I go completely off anything resembling a balanced diet, in favor of sampling as many flavors as possible of the magical seasonal pastry called Paczki. I'm really happy that the event I'm dancing tomorrow night is a charitable fundraiser for breast cancer - that is in no way affiliated with Susan G Komen, I might add! Bonus points to anyone coming out to this show tomorrow night who mentions "Sauda Namir" at the door. If they know who sent you, they're more likely to have me back to show my ass off. We're keeping track for friendly competition. My grandmother lost a breast to cancer, and I hope with enough research and early detection nobody else has to worry about their life and go through what she did. There are a lot of diseases that cause untold numbers to suffer, and I urge you to donate in whatever way you can to a charity, touching a cause in your life, that is invested in real and meaningful research and solutions.

Suadela is working to accept credit cards at a live event near you! Hot & Heavy's tribute to The Wall was such a blast, that we can't wait to be back at Stage 773 for the Juke Joint and for the Windy City Burlesque Festival vendor's room. We've also got the lab brewing a fine new product up, and it is in beta testing right now with a few hand selected performers about town. Business has been booming, and we've now sold to 4 out of 6 (penguins don't have internet, so Antarctica doesn't count) continents. A little action from Asia and South America would be nice! ha!

I've got a special staycation with the love of my life planned for this weekend, and I cannot wait! Just the time out from work that I'll need to carry me through the month of March which is full up on modeling sessions. Thank goodness I'm in physical therapy to get my back straightened out. One helps the other, you know? I am strengthening my back to stand taller, and that helps all the dancing and modeling. The dancing and modeling beat me up a bit, and physical therapy combined with massage and chiropractic adjustments get me on the rebound.

My new sewing machine is really slick. I love the features I've used so far, and there are so many functions this little whiz can do! With a pinch of time and practice, I think I'm on my way to new glitter and glam on a shoestring. The idea of custom is lovely, but unless you're doing it yourself it has the price tag to match. I upcycle a good portion of my burlesque wardrobe from off the rack finds, which I think is fine for what it is. I'm not of the opinion that 100% of every stitch a performer wears must be custom designed and handcrafted, but it helps to have something that nobody else does. Which makes me really excited about THE act of my year. More time has been sunk into this one than any other, and I believe I'm still about three months away from unveiling it. Trust me, as soon as I can let this Top Secret cat outta the bag, I'll let you know where and when to see it first!

A little reminder as I bid you adieu, to follow me on twitter and friend me on facebook. Links are under Find and Friend Me on the left sidebar near the top. xoxo

Zen and the Art of Burlesque

This entry brought to you by disjointed thoughts and random facts:

*Those rad little cube cubby organizers are the best thing to ever happen to my lingerie/burlesque wardrobe organization.

*January 17th is Betty White's birthday. I love her, have always thought of her as a role model, and am truly grateful for every year we get to keep her on this earth.

*I shot a lovely set with the fabulous MFarring13 on Zivity. If you've not seen it, please do. If you like what you see, please support us as artists by leaving a vote (or two or three or whatever you're comfy contributing). The set is called "Every Cloud has its Silver Lining" and is my first on a seamless backdrop. To some people that's boring, but I feel it really strips away all the distractions and forces me to shine my brightest as a model. It was my first collaboration with this photographer, and he made me feel very at ease. I can't wait to work with him again!

*I have a date set to work with the talented Kriss Abigail for Zivity in the near future. She's been a goldmine of beautiful images in the burlesque trenches, and has created some stunning images with other local burlesque pals. Be sure to stay on the lookout for that collaboration!

*Speaking of Kriss Abigail's professionalism, she got smacked in the head with my undies and kept on shooting at Vaudezilla's Lincoln Fair at Lincoln Tap Room this month! There is no film of this, unfortunately, but there is video of the act up on Vimeo. I'll link to it on my video page as well, because this was the triumphant return of White and Nerdy. By far my favorite act to do and continue building on. Our esteemed host, Saucy Jack, and I briefly tossed around the idea of another Weird Al song, and if he ever seriously considers it, my offer stands to duet or backup dance it.

*Visit my contact page for a Google calendar of my upcoming events/appearances. The CliffsNotes version goes like this: Friday, January 20th see me at the Greenhouse Theatre with Kiss Kiss Cabaret! Thursday, January 26th I've an engagement pending with Arkham Noise Productions at Lucky Number Loft for Festival of Flesh! February 9-12 pick up a couple of pasties from Suadela Intimates while taking in Hot & Heavy Burlesque's tribute to The Wall at Stage 773!

*While we're on the subject of pasties and Stage 773, you should know that you can support a sensational show by way of Suadela Intimates. Jeezy's Juke Joint is coming back to Chicago on St. Patty's Day at Stage 773, and a terrific lineup of talent is scheduled. To help make this show a reality, show your support by buying a pair of the Juke Joint Pasties at Suadela. Available in black, red, green, and gold, 75% of the purchase price goes directly to the production! With your help we can import showstoppers such as Perle Noir to this event!

*Getting a warm mist vaporizer was a solid decision for a good night's sleep. If I smell of Vick's Vaporub, just enjoy it, because it helps my breathing tremendously. ;-)

*The 1901 Gallery met their kickstarter goal! I'm so happy their operations drive went well, and I was happy to be apart of the event last Saturday. So many talented artists in this town... I thoroughly enjoyed peers from various different corners of the Chicago scene coming together in such a positive way. I hope we can hold on tight that sense of community with both hands! So artistically refreshing.

*Time to rehearse for the KKC show on Friday! Be there not only for myself, but for Millie May's KKC debut! I can't wait to see what act she does. Every time I see her perform, I get caught up in her effervescent personality. And *shock!* she's gone blonde... and damn, if you liked the Bettie look she had before, wait until you get an eyeful of this Norma Jean thing she's got going on now. *faints*

A Fond Farewell to 2011

As the year comes to a close there are lots of potential New Years Resolutions that I'm contemplating. Some I've gotten a head start on. Quite a few are covered in this article, 30 Things to Stop Doing to Yourself, and others are less lofty goals. I've gotten spinal x-rays done and have an appointment scheduled with my chiropractor for next week. I don't have an injury to speak of, but I do have factors in my life that lead me to take a preventative care and early management approach to my aches and pains. In line with this is a general goal to become more flexible. I have never been able to do a full split, and I don't think that is a very realistic goal for me to accomplish in a year's time. Something to work towards for a day in the future though. I have various goals with benchmarks in regard to the shop, burlesque, and modeling as well.

I'm on the hunt for more photographers in Chicago to work with for Zivity. A few things are booked, a few inquiries are sent, and hope for repeat sessions are on the horizon. I'm really anxious to build my portfolio with variety and integrity. Too much time has already been wasted on one trick ponies. In burlesque, my goal is to go on the road once next year. I want to see what other cities have to offer and present. I'm online "friends" with a plethora of talented individuals from across the nation. I'd like to go play in their playgrounds and get to know them better; to build community. My aspirations for the shop have lists upon lists. However, the fantastic news I have for you is SuadelaIntimates.com is a full fledged site of its own now! I'm thrilled to have a social touch point other than Facebook and Etsy itself, free from the limitations inherent in those sites. I hope our fans and customers will find it useful, insightful, and entertaining --- I do!

Before we welcome 2012, let's part with 2011 in style. On December 29th (Thursday) you can come out to Lucky Number Grill for the Festival of Flesh, and see me perform for the last time of the year. Let's have a drink and some good times!

Digging Deep for December

As November comes to a close things naturally get more and more hectic. Schedules get fuller and to do lists get longer, yet there is less and less daylight. If only I could put more hours into a day! This week is no exception; my performance life is clashing with my everyday life. The struggle for supremacy rolls on until I figure out how to be in two places at once. Holiday festivities abound; I can't wait to see you locals, and wanderers, soon!

Suadela Intimates has more holiday surprises coming soon. The newest exciting addition has been the Spiral of Sparkle sequin pasties in a vast array of colors. These beauties are hand sewn from edge to tip and feature fantastic canvas backing. They seem to be very popular looking at the number of favorites they've gotten so quickly! No sense keeping it under wraps any longer, dear readers... SuadelaIntimates.com will soon be a website unto itself, and not simply a redirect to the shop on Etsy. I hope you'll be just as excited as I am to see this next step come to fruition.

This Friday I'll be at the Greenhouse Theater Center with the Kiss Kiss Cabaret at 11pm! Come see my newly improved holiday act. I promise you it will not be Santa Baby - although that is one of my very favorite holiday songs. No, this is far more divine, in a Miss M way. And if not for me, come for Tito Bonito, the Cuban Missile Crisis! That's a guarentee for fun and frolic right there, yes sir!

Modeling is on hiatus for the moment. My incision from surgery earlier this year is still healing. Until it fades a bit more, I'm afraid it is a post production headache best avoided. Nothing new on that front aside from my profile on Model Mayhem. Overdue, eh? Feel free to check that out if you like, since I have nothing terribly current to entice you with.

Made room in my freezer for my newest toy: the KitchenAid ice cream maker. I'm quite excited to make my own ice cream in any flavor I dream up. I'll be very happy knowing exactly what goes into it. Previously, my favorite ice cream brand was Bryers, since the ingredient list is all easily pronounced. Maybe I'll blog about my first creation with it. I thoroughly enjoy tackeling new culinary challenges. My vegan cupcakes, and other vegan adventures all turned out pretty well. We'll see how pulling a 180-degree turn into dairy treats goes. Why start this now, and not wait for summer? Isn't winter cold enough? A perfect time to start to be sure I don't over indulge. If that answer isn't good enough for you, then by the time summer rolls in I'll have the hang of it. If that doesn't grab you, then I only have two words left for you: hot fudge.

Until next time, loves. xoxo
